District Foundation

WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION?
The Foundation is entirely dedicated to making a better life for mentally and physically impaired persons. As an endowment program, only the interest generated by the funds in the Foundation are spent.

Please understand that the one vital ingredient necessary to the success of the Foundation mission is the generous support of caring people like you.

Started in 1983 with an initial grant of $7,000, the purposes are as follows:

To promote the general welfare of mentally and physically impaired citizens.
To research and determine the cause of mental impairment.
To alert or warn the public of the urgent need for special facilities for the mentally and physically impaired children and adults.
To promote the intrinsic growth of mentally and physically impaired children through such activities as, but not limited to, Special Olympics.
To provide scholarships to juniors and seniors enrolled in a Michigan college on social service or special education courses.
To conduct functions and seek contributions in support of it’s goals and objectives.

WHAT IS MY GIFT?
With your gift of $500 or more you will not only have a fellowship in the Foundation but the knowledge that you are part of a distinguished group of benefactors who have accepted the challenge of working toward a better world. All Fellows will also be awarded a certificate of recognition and be listed on a permanent record kept by the Foundation.

FELLOW-IN-PROGRESS
If you do not feel, you can manage a single one-time contribution of $500 or more now, consider a Fellow-in-Progress. Under this arrangement, you can spread your total contribution in payments over a three-year period.

TAX ADVANTAGES
The Foundation is registered as a 501 (C) (3) organization. Therefore, either way you choose, your gift is fully tax-deductible.

OTHER GIVING
Of course, donations of any amount would be gratefully accepted, and could include unrestricted bequest of money and / or material property. Certain types of deferred giving provide additional Tax incentives. For more information about these other methods of giving, just contact us @ russj@modempool.com.

HONOR SOMEONE
Donating funds to the Foundation would certainly be an appropriate way to provide a lasting memorial to someone, a member of your community who you would like to recognize or to honor someone. Club Presidents, if there is someone in your club who you would like to honor, why not give them gifts that keep on giving year after year. Take out fellowships in there names!

(Special Note: Because of the stated purposes of the Foundation, it is legal and acceptable to use Candy Box Funds on support of Foundation Fellowships of memorials.)
